Successful Deposition of Coatings from UMR Team

The goal of this thermal spraying session was to deposit coatings based on the two latest HEA-based hardmetal formulations provided by MBN: Al0(Cr20Mn25Fe40Ni15)100+60vol.%TiC and Al9Cr18Cu18Fe18Ni36+60vol.TiC.

These experiments extend the range of materials covered experimentally by completing the foreseen activities with the Alx(CrMnFeNi)1-x system and by including one Cu-containing system. Thus, 8 of the 10 compositions foreseen during the first stage of the CoBRAIN project have now been processed by the HVOF thermal spraying technology (while depositions with the HVAF and Cold Spraying processes are being carried out in parallel by MBN Nanomaterialia and by UB + Titomic), putting us well in lint to achieve the goals foreseen for the WP3 activities.

The first results are encouraging as both compositions gave deposition efficiencies of up to 60%, in spite of the powders being still experimental batches (not yet optimized for full production purposes).

CoBRAIN project has officially launched!

On 24th – 25th of January EXELISIS participated in the hybrid kick-off meeting, of the CoBRAIN project, hosted by UNIMORE in Modena of Italy. CoBRAIN is a HorizonEU project funded by the EU under the topic Advanced materials modelling and characterisation.

EXELISIS is leading activities related to IPR Management and Dissemination & Communication activities under WP7, which were presented along with some guidelines for a successful D&C strategy.
