RIPT 2026 – CoBRAIN Workshop (SDSS & Advanced Thermal Spray Innovations)
- June 15, 2026
The 12th RIPT Conference in Jülich, Germany provided an excellent platform for CoBRAIN to present its latest advances through a dedicated workshop focused on thermal spray technologies, advanced materials, and digital innovation. The session brought together researchers, engineers, and industrial stakeholders from across the international coatings community, fostering exchange on cutting-edge developments in surface engineering.
A strong emphasis was placed on the latest outcomes of the CoBRAIN project, including progress in Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME), high-performance thermal spray coatings, multi-physics modelling, and innovative feedstock production routes. Special attention was given to the role of digitalisation in coating development, with the CoBRAIN Sustainable Decision Support System (SDSS) presented as a key tool supporting data-driven selection and evaluation of coating solutions.
The workshop featured presentations from the CoBRAIN Coordinator and key consortium partners, who shared scientific results and ongoing research activities, sparking active discussion with participants from both academia and industry. The exchange highlighted the importance of combining experimental research, modelling, and digital tools to address complex challenges in modern coating technologies.
The RIPT 2026 workshop further strengthened CoBRAIN’s visibility within the global thermal spray community and reinforced the project’s role in advancing more efficient, sustainable, and digitally enabled surface engineering solutions.

CoBRAIN project has officially launched!
On 24th – 25th of January EXELISIS participated in the hybrid kick-off meeting, of the CoBRAIN project, hosted by UNIMORE in Modena of Italy. CoBRAIN is a HorizonEU project funded by the EU under the topic Advanced materials modelling and characterisation.
EXELISIS is leading activities related to IPR Management and Dissemination & Communication activities under WP7, which were presented along with some guidelines for a successful D&C strategy.
