COATINGS 2026 – SDSS Training & Demonstration Booth
- June 4, 2026
During the COATINGS 2026 International Conference in Athens, Greece, the CoBRAIN project organised a dedicated SDSS training and demonstration activity. CoBRAIN booth, emained active throughout the entire three-day event. The booth served as a central meeting point for researchers, industrial stakeholders, coating specialists, and technology users interested in exploring the project’s digital innovations and sustainability-driven solutions.
A key focus of the booth was the presentation of the CoBRAIN Sustainable Decision Support System (SDSS), one of the project’s flagship outcomes. Through live demonstrations and interactive discussions, participants were introduced to the platform’s capabilities and its role in supporting the selection and assessment of advanced coating solutions based on technical performance, sustainability criteria, and industrial requirements. CoBRAIN partners guided visitors through real-time use cases, showcasing how the SDSS integrates experimental data, modelling results, and sustainability indicators into a comprehensive decision-support framework.
The activity attracted significant interest from both academia and industry, creating valuable opportunities for dialogue and knowledge exchange. Stakeholders were able to interact directly with the tool, discuss potential applications within their own sectors, and gain a deeper understanding of how digital technologies can support more informed and sustainable decision-making processes.
In parallel, participants were invited to complete dedicated Technology Cards, allowing the consortium to gather valuable feedback, identify industrial needs, and further strengthen the connection between research outcomes and market requirements. This interactive approach reinforced the practical relevance of the SDSS and highlighted its potential to facilitate technology transfer and industrial uptake.
The strong engagement observed throughout COATINGS 2026 confirmed the growing importance of digital decision-support systems within the advanced coatings sector. The SDSS training and demonstration activities successfully showcased how CoBRAIN is contributing to the digital and sustainable transformation of materials engineering, providing stakeholders with innovative tools to support future research, development, and industrial implementation.
