CoBRAIN at the MatCHMaker Satellite Workshop EMMC2025 on “Data Life Cycles in the World of Materials Modelling & Characterisation”
- April 7, 2025
CoBRAIN actively contributed to the EMMC 2025 Satellite Workshop on “Data Life Cycles in the World of Materials Modelling and Characterisation,” co-organised by our sister project MatCHMaker and the European Materials Modelling Council (EMMC). Held on April 7, 2025, at TU Wien, Vienna, the event brought together the AiMPACT cluster projects—AddMorePower, AID4GREENEST, CoBRAIN, D-STANDART, KNOWSKITE-X, and MatCHMaker -to discuss how materials data is planned, generated, analysed, preserved, and shared across the research lifecycle.
Representing CoBRAIN, Prof. Emanuele Ghedini (University of Bologna) delivered an interesting talk titled “EMMO for Manufacturing: the CoBRAIN Knowledge Base for Thermal Spraying Process, Modelling and Characterisation.” His presentation highlighted how CoBRAIN leverages the European Materials Modelling Ontology (EMMO) to enhance data interoperability, structure, and reuse—key factors for enabling efficient collaboration and accelerating innovation in advanced coatings.
The workshop served as an important forum for knowledge exchange and community building around sustainable data practices, and underlined CoBRAIN’s strong contribution to shaping the future of materials digitalisation and semantic integration in surface engineering.

CoBRAIN project has officially launched!
On 24th – 25th of January EXELISIS participated in the hybrid kick-off meeting, of the CoBRAIN project, hosted by UNIMORE in Modena of Italy. CoBRAIN is a HorizonEU project funded by the EU under the topic Advanced materials modelling and characterisation.
EXELISIS is leading activities related to IPR Management and Dissemination & Communication activities under WP7, which were presented along with some guidelines for a successful D&C strategy.
